Water-slide Decals

Part II covers all the tanks of C squadron and Regimental HQ. Like set 1, this set was also extremely difficult to produce due to the great number of markings on each tank and a phletora of typesets used for names and registration numbers. Apart from the omission of a Mark II named REGIMENT, this set is as complete as it gets.

On the topic of colours, there have been two camps on the tac numbers. White or Yellow? To satisfy both, the set comes with white numbers, together with the optional yellow fill-ins. The reason why white cannot be the fill-ins and the yellow cannot be the preset is simple - yellow will bleed through white how strong the latter paint is. Whereas, yellow will have no problem with white underneathe (which is natural where decal production is concerned). Again, like Part 1, a little inconvenience will be expected on your part to manually place the yellow fill-ins over the whites.

Next comes the AOS colours, it has been said that Dark Blue over Dark red are for the Artillery branch in the Canadian AOS rule book, thus they are not possible on the Dieppe Churchills. Tan was used instead, and Barry Beldam of the famed Armoured Acorn provided the RGB composition (translated to Pantone numbers). Thanks Barry! Just in case one begs to differ on this, the white AOS numbers have also been provided separately (top corners of the sheet).

The set is good for 4 complete builds, out of 11 options provided and over 3 different Churchill marks (I, II and III). Also provided are one variation of stenciled number generics.

How to apply water-slide decals:
1. Preparation: to achieve better result, a gloss or semi-gloss coat is very important. It will make a smooth layer which the decals will suction to and make it much easier to apply and set them.
2. Cut out the decal you need (do it on cutting mat)
3. Grab the decal with tweezers, place it on the surface of the water and leave it for about 20 seconds.
4. Remove the decal from the water and place it on paper towel to remove any excess water.
5. Apply decal solution to the part where the decal is to be placed.
6. Slide the decal off the backing paper on to the model. Using a paint brush or cotton bud is a good way to do this without damaging the decal.
7. Use the brush, knife or cotton bud to position the decal. Using your paper towel, gently dab the decal and soak up the excess water (decal softner is also recommended at this stage. After applying softner, the decal will suction to the part and flatten out smooth.)
8. When the decal is completely dry, give another coat of varnish or Klear/Future to seal it.
