Dragon 6756 1/35 WWII StuG.III Ausf.F w/7.5cm L/48 Last Production [Smart Kit]
This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.
The Sturmgeschutz III (StuG.III) has the distinction of being Germany's most widely produced AFV of WWII, with 10,619 eventually manufactured. Based on the chassis of the Panzer III, it was cheaper and faster to build since it did not have a rotating turret. Once German troops began encountering heavily armoured Russian tanks, the StuG III Ausf.F was fitted with a longer 7.5cm gun. This marked the StuG.III's first true emergence as a tank destroyer rather than as an infantry support vehicle, with 359 vehicles of this variant produced from March-September 1942. Most Ausf.Fs were armed with a 7.5cm StuK 40 L/43 gun, but the final 31 examples featured a longer and more potent L/48 gun. These late-production types eventually led the way to the Ausf.F/8 replacement.
To go nicely along with its previously released StuG.III Ausf.F/8, Dragon is now launching a new 1/35 scale kit of the Ausf.F. It has all the appropriate features of a last-production type. For example, it has new parts representing the welded-on frontal armour and concrete above the driver's position. There are new mounting brackets for the cleaning rods on the left side of the hull, and the front portion of the fenders are of a fixed, rather than folding type. Another change is new antenna troughs on the rear hull of the StuG.III F. There are photo-etched parts such as mesh screens for the engine intakes and etc. All the parts on this famous tank destroyer fit extremely well thanks to Dragon's famous engineering quality and accuracy.
