Model Factory Hiro MHB-6 Photograph Collection #6 - Mazda 787B in Detail
The PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION series is created with focus on collecting photographs for use as reference for model building and serving as a historical record of various famed machines. The 6th book in the series will be covering the Mazda 787B. the winner of the 1991 24 hour of Le Mans.
- Contains photos of the 787B-002 (Car No. 55) that was restored in 2011, with many detailed photos of the front, rear, cockpit, engine etc. of the car. 14 pages of the book is dedicated to covering the 787B-001 (Car No. 18) that was painted in Mazda Works colour, and the 787B-003 (Car No. 202) that entered in JSPC/SWC.
- Photos were hand picked with focus on details of the car useful as reference for model building.
-The Mazda 787B marks the first Japanese built car to have won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1991. It is also known as the only car running on a rotary engine to have won at Le Mans, a feat that will most probably never be repeated due to regulation changes. Having first entered Le Mans in 1970s, the year 1991 marked special year for Mazda as they entered two 787B for Le Mans ?C the 787B-001 (Car No. 18) that was colour in the Mazda Works colours of white and blue, and the 787B-002 (Car No. 55) painted in Renown colours. The latter claimed victory at Le Mans, and was put into storage after the race by Mazda. Five replicas of the winning car was made for display purposes at various event afterwards.
-The photos in this book feature the original 787B-002 that was restored in 2011. The restore features subtle differences from the 1991 original, such as different sized tires, carbon brake disks were replaced with steel disks, difference rear wing endplates etc. Also featured is the 787B-003 (Car No. 202) that was made after the 1991 Le Mans victory as an entry for JSPC/SWC, and the restored 787B-001 (Car No. 18).
