Dragon 4612 1/144 SH-60F Oceanhawk NSAWC "TOP GUN" (Twin Pack)
This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.
The SH-60F Oceanhawk helicopter is the carrier-based close relative of the well-known SH-60B, and it's designed to provide close-in protection against submarines. As well as antisubmarine warfare (ASW), the Oceanhawk also provides a search and rescue (SAR) capability for carrier battle groups. Its formidable arsenal includes Mk-46/Mk-50 torpedos, cabin-mounted machineguns, plus it hunts subs with AQS-13F dipping sonar and 14 sonar buoys. A total of 82 Oceanhawks were produced up till 1994, though it's now being gradually replaced by the MH-60R.
Dragon has released a set of 1/144-scale models of the SH-60F Oceanhawk. This twin-pack contains two highly accurate kits, but with an added twist. The two models display markings for the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC, pronounced "En-Sock"). Based at NAS Fallon in Nevada, this is the heart of aviation training for the United States Navy. The NSAWC command maintains the F/A-18 Hornet, F-16 Fighting Falcon and SH-60F Oceanhawk helicopters. SH-60F helicopters based at the Rotary Winged Weapons School (RWWS) carry unique markings and camouflage schemes, particularly when they pose as enemy machines. All the necessary decals to depict Soviet OPFOR helicopters are provided by high-quality items from Cartograf. The kits themselves are sharply molded and fully detailed, and they fit together with consummate ease thanks to Dragon's engineering expertise. For something a little different, these "enemy" SH-60F helicopters add a touch of curiosity.
