In 1939, the F2A Buffalo beat out the F4F Wildcat to become the U.S. Navy's first monoplane fighter. Initial flight tests were impressive enough to interest many European Air Forces, including the RAF. However, the Buffalo's performance fell short of expectations. This limited edition kit combo (2 kits)features one F2A-2 kit and one F2A-3 kit, each with one marking option. (F2A-2): 1. U.S. Navy U.S.S. Saratoga, VF-3, Code: 3-F-8, 1941. (F2A-3): 1. U.S. Marine VMF-221, Code: MF-15, Midway, June 1942. The F2A-3 also features new resin nose and prop hub parts.
