The Skyhawks Midway transported profoundly affected the War by providing strategic strikes, close air support and combat evacuation. During their first deployment to the theatre, A-4E Skyhawks were responsible for carrying out most of the strike missions against Viet Cong and NVA positions. Their heavy armament and substantial range made them the weapon of choice on long-distance missions.
