Revell 04905 1/24 Bell UH-1 Huey
This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.
The Bell UH-1, better known as the Huey , gained fame with the American Armed Forces in the 1960s during the Vietnam War. It quickly became an indispensable part of their modern battlefield equipment through rescue operations, troop transport and armed escort. With the introduction of the heavy machine-gun and rocket pod armament, it was often nicknamed the Gunship . The first Huey undertook its maiden flight on 22 October 1956. In March 1962 the first machines were sent into service in South Vietnam where they were initially used only for medi-vac flights and as a multi-purpose helicopter. The first armed versions were transferred to the UTTHC (Utility Tactical Transport Helicopter Company) in South Vietnam in September 1962. Their typical armament consisted of a hydraulically driven M-6 quad container with four 7.62 mm M-60 machine guns and a heavy missile armament, all of which were attached to the skids. They gave fire support to unarmed helicopters and ground troops and were an integral part of any tactical combat unit. The U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy also deployed the Huey in large numbers in Vietnam.
