Hasegawa 43168 1/700 Japanese Navy Heavy Cruiser Kako [Full Hull Special Limited Edition]
This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.
From victory to the bottom of the sea
Fortune is fickle. The morning after participating in a crushing victory over US surface vessels in which four cruisers and two destroyers were reported sunk, Kako was spotted by S-44-an American submarine-which fired upon Kako at 7 in the morning. She was struck three times with torpedoes at 7:08. She rolled, her boilers exploded, and by 7:15 she had sunk beneath the waves. Despite her precipitous departure from the surface, most of her officers and crew were able to escape to the safety of other nearby Japanese warships. Kit features display base, metal gun barrels, and photoetched accessories.
Decal Option:
First Battle of Savo Island August 1942
