Mr Black Publications SMH-SMM12 Scale Modelling Manual Vol.12 Painting A Complicated Fantasy Bust (32 pages)
Preface - Scale Modelling Manual Vol.12
Welcome to the 12th volume in our well-established series on scale modelling. MrBlack goal is to provide a wealth of concentrated information on painting and general modelling techniques at a competitive price.
Each manual focuses on a specific topic, offering various approaches and techniques, usually authored by a single expert. The contents are carefully curated to ensure every reader discovers something new to try and adapt to their own methods. High-quality photos and detailed text accompany each book, making it easy for readers to follow the progress of assembly and painting, and to adopt new techniques and approaches.
Unlike previous editions, where content length was limited by page constraints, this volume allows for more detailed and explanatory coverage. Each theme is presented thoroughly, leaving no omissions or unanswered questions.
Depending on the themes and contents, real painted colour chips of hues and mixes may be included, along with information on how to use them. This series will cover various modelling aspects including Historic and Fantasy models, Scale Models, Dioramas, Vignettes, Figures, Busts, Techniques, and History You Can Model.
In this issue, Mr.Black delves into the detailed painting process of a large, complicated 1/10 scale fantasy bust from Big Child Creatives' Signature Series. Master artist Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth explains his painting process over 28 pages, covering the use of paintbrushes, the airbrush, and a wet palette. He provides approximate mixing proportions for brush painting with a wet palette and exact colour matches for the airbrush. This is illustrated through 52 step-by-step large format images that reveal the techniques, tips, and effects needed to produce an award-winning fantasy bust.
Mr.Black extend gratitude to Vallejo Acrylics (Alex Vallejo and Jaume Ortiz Forns), Scale75 (Jose Mendez), Kimera Kolors (Luca Marchetti and Pietro Balloni), Lifecolor (Alessandro Balbo and Rolando Iezzi), Yannis Papadopoulos, and our English Text Editor Ken Jones.
Special thanks to Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth for providing all the necessary materials, enabling this book to serve as a perfect painting manual.

ABOUT THIS VOLUME
Usulatan de Quaholom
This is a very cool and original bust from Big Child Creatives (Signature Series). The scale is 1/10th, and it features lots of fine details with a variety of different materials and textures to paint. Sculpted by Alejandro Munoz ('4lex0z' Alex0z), this bust represents a fantasy feline warrior inspired by Maya/Aztec culture. It's a fascinating subject and fun to paint.
The bust is cast in high-quality resin with excellent detail, and the parts are easy to clean up before painting. Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth used a combination of Vallejo Model Color, Vallejo Game Color Inks, Vallejo Model Air, and AK-Interactive 3Gen acrylics for brush and airbrush painting. The 52 step-by-step large format pictures reveal all the techniques, tips, and effects needed to produce an award-winning creation of a complicated fantasy bust.
